The East Veil Nebula, primarily catalogued as NGC 6992 and NGC 6995, is part of the larger Cygnus Loop supernova remnant. This image was captured from my parents’ front yard and shows the nebula’s red hydrogen and blue-green oxygen structures.

Disclosure

ProcessingThis image was created by calibrating, aligning, and stacking multiple individual exposures. The stacked data was cropped, gradient-corrected, color-balanced, stretched, denoised, and sharpened to reveal the faint filamentary structure of the nebula. Contrast, saturation, and star brightness were adjusted during processing. No generative fill or artificially created nebular detail was added.
